3.3.18. Installation of pistons

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check that connecting rods are correctly established. If new inserts are established, check that all traces of protective lubricant are removed with the corresponding solvent. Wipe inserts and rods pure lint-free fabric.
2. Grease cylinders, pistons and piston rings.
3. Installation of pistons needs to be begun with the first cylinder. Check correctness of an arrangement of piston rings on the piston, then squeeze them a special mandrel.
4. Insert the piston with the mandrel squeezing rings into the top part of the first cylinder. On petrol engines check that the arrow is directed to the bottom of the piston to a gear belt of the drive, and on diesel engines dredging is directed to the bottom of the piston to a forward part of the block of cylinders. Using wooden whetstone (the hammer handle) press on the piston and press it together with the piston the cylinder.
5. Check combination of the lower head of a rod with a crankshaft neck, if necessary tighten the piston a rod and establish the lower head of a rod with an insert on a crankshaft neck.
6. Establish a cover of the lower head of a rod with an insert and put the clamps the required moment. Pay attention that earlier put markings on a cover of a rod and a rod have to be combined.
7. Tighten nuts of fastening of a cover of the lower head of a rod a dynamometer key.
8. Tighten nuts of fastening of a cover of the lower head of a rod on the required corner.
9. After tightening of nuts of covers of bearings turn the crankshaft. The crankshaft has to rotate freely. Some effort will be required at installation of new inserts, but at the same time there should not be jammings or a provorachivaniye of a shaft with application of great efforts.
10. Similarly install three remained pistons.
11. Establish a head of the block of cylinders and the oil pump.
