3.2.7. Gear belt

GENERAL INFORMATION

Removal of a gear belt of the drive (engines 1.9 liters)

8. Square openings of 10 mm
9, 10, 11. Adjusting bolts of the mechanism of gas distribution
12. Nut of fastening of a point of turn of the mechanism of a tension
13. Bolt of fixing of the mechanism of a tension

The gear belt puts in action a cam-shaft, the fuel pump and the water pump from a crankshaft pulley. In case of a rupture of a gear belt there can be an impact of pistons and valves that will lead to serious damage of the engine.

The gear belt has to change in the specified interval of time or earlier if on it engine oil got.

After removal of a gear belt check a condition of the water pump and its tightness (on smudges of cooling liquid).

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Engines 1.9 liters
1. Install the mechanism of gas distribution and record it cores or bolts. Disconnect the negative plug from the accumulator.
2. Remove the remained casings of a gear belt.
3. Remove the right suspension bracket of the power unit. Weaken a nut of a point of turn of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt and a bolt of fixing, then turn the tension mechanism counterclockwise for removal of a tension of a belt and repeatedly tighten a fixing bolt. At an opportunity for turn of the mechanism of a tension use the unbent key of square section with the party of 10 mm.
4. Note an arrow the direction of rotation of a belt and take off a belt from pulleys.
Engines 2.1 liters
5. Install the mechanism of gas distribution and record it cores or bolts. Disconnect the negative plug from the accumulator.
6. Remove the remained casings of a gear belt.
7. Weaken the lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt located to the left of installation of a suspension bracket.
8. Using the key unbent 5 mm inserted through an opening in installation of a suspension bracket weaken tightening a bolt (V) of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt (And – a lock nut).
9. Using 10 mm the key inserted through the same opening (it is specified by an arrow), take away the tension mechanism, turning a shaft clockwise.
10. Note an arrow the direction of rotation of a belt and take off a belt from pulleys.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Check a condition of a gear belt for wear, stratification and pollution by oil. Pay special attention to a radical part of teeths. With any defect the belt needs to be replaced. In case of detection on a belt of traces of oil it is necessary to find a source of leak of oil and to eliminate it. Check a condition of the mechanism of a tension and rotation of a single pulley which has to rotate easily and evenly.

Installation and tension

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Models of engines 1.9 liters
1. Check existence of the fixing bolts and cores on the gas distribution mechanism.
2. Establish a gear belt on a crankshaft pulley, considering the direction of its rotation on earlier made tag.
3. Establish a gear belt on pulleys in the following order:
      – the directing roller;
      – fuel pump of high pressure;
      – cam-shaft;
      – cooling pump.
4. At installation of a belt on a pulley of the fuel pump, establish it only on a half of width and, after installation on a cam-shaft pulley, pull a belt over a pulley of the fuel pump.
5. Remove fixing bolts from pulleys of a cam-shaft and the fuel pump and a core of fixing of a flywheel.
6. Weaken a nut of a point of turn and a bolt of adjustment of the mechanism of a tension and slowly release the tension mechanism before contact with a gear belt. Repeatedly tighten a bolt of regulation and a nut of a point of turn.
7. Turn the crankshaft on two whole revolutions in the working direction.
8. Weaken fastening of the mechanism of a tension and a nut of a point of turn in order that the mechanism of a tension pulled a gear belt. Repeatedly tighten a bolt of regulation and a nut of a point of turn.
9. Check that adjusting openings on pulleys of a cam-shaft, the fuel pump and a flywheel are combined. Otherwise repeat installation of a gear belt.
10. Further installation is made in the sequence of the return to removal.
Models of engines 2.1 liters
11. Check existence of the fixing bolts and cores on the gas distribution mechanism.
12. Take away the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt and tighten a lock nut. When using 10 mm of a key weaken the tension mechanism, turning it counterclockwise.
13. Establish a gear belt on a crankshaft pulley, considering the direction of its rotation on earlier made tag.
14. Establish a gear belt on pulleys in the following order:
      – the directing roller;
      – fuel pump of high pressure;
      – cam-shaft;
      – cooling system pump;
      – tension mechanism roller.
15. At installation of a belt on a pulley of the fuel pump establish it only on a half of width and, after installation on a cam-shaft pulley, pull a belt over a pulley of the fuel pump.
16. Weaken a lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension that the mechanism of a tension pulled a gear belt.
17. Remove fixing bolts from pulleys of a cam-shaft and the fuel pump and a core of fixing of a flywheel.
18. Turn the crankshaft on two whole revolutions in the working direction.
19. Weaken a lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension, then turn the crankshaft on two whole revolutions.
20. Weaken a lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension that the mechanism of a tension pulled a gear belt, and tighten a lock nut and tightening a tension mechanism bolt.
21. Check that adjusting openings on pulleys of a cam-shaft, the fuel pump and a flywheel are combined. Otherwise repeat installation of a gear belt.
22. Further installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal.
